Watering
Observe
the soil of your Bonsai every day, touch the soil with your fingers:
if it is saturated (when presses, water comes out) , it does not
need watering. If it is dry, with a dusty look, lighter in color,
and the leaves are limp, it should be watered immedia1tely.
Neither
of the above extremes is the optimum.
The
Learning the bonsai growing rules, the differences and the similarities among the essences, is a long trip in a special and complicated nature; having even a vague knowledge in bonsai cultivation improves the sensitivity in the more general field of gardening.
Do
not water directly with water from the tap: mains water contains
chlorine, which is very harmful for plants. Nor is it necessary to
use bottled water; it is enough to leave water from the tap in an
open bucket for 12 ours for the chlorine to evaporate.
This will also bring the water to room temperature, preventing thermal shock to the leaves of tropical Bonsai in winter.
